FNB apparently does not need investors
FNB appears not to need new business. What terrible service! They make it near impossible to invest in their tax free accounts. I wanted to invest in a Tax Free Share Account and a Tax Free Unit Trust account. I tried to do it online, constantly received an error notification, eventually received notification that a consultant will call me. A consultant called the following day. When I explained that I would like to invest in both accounts, she said it would be better to do it at the bank, as she can only do the Share account. I was at my branch in Hyde Park Johannesburg on 24/3/21. I explained again what I would like to do to the lady issuing tickets. She told us that the wait will be 20 minutes. There were 2 consultants only, and a lot of customers. I waited FOR AN HOUR, only for the consultant to tell us that she can't do it, we have to do it via the call centre. She took me to a counter where she dialed for the call centre, where I was told again that only do the Shares Account can be done. I was thoroughly annoyed at that point, and decided it is ridiculous to struggle this much to invest my money in FNB, I am taking my business elsewhere. I really wanted to inform a manager that this process is not easy, FNB is loosing business because of it, service is poor, I wasted a lot of time and got nowhere. Nobody was on the floor to help. I went to the tellers and asked to please see a manager. The lady who issues tickets on arrival at the bank, eventually arrived after a long absence. She said she is standing in for the manager?? She made enquiries at the consultant, who once again told us that she can't do it. The lady/manager was surprised and uninformed about the service. All in all very poor service from FNB. I have been banking with FNB for more than 30 years, I assumed it will be easy. Now another investment company is getting my business.
