FNB APPALLING SERVICE AND BANK CHARGES

The service from FNB of late is absolutely appalling and their bank costs are now absurd versus other banks. I received a call from a FNB representative claiming to be phoning on behalf of my private banker. The line was very bad but in short, she wanted me to switch to a new product called Fusion. I immediately asked what the costs involved would be, and she claimed nothing. I explained that I have no money currently in my bank account for any bank costs of which she failed to explain anything relating to the possible costs. She then asked if I would like new cards and I decline since I already have valid bank cards. I am a pensioner of 69 yrs and currently I am trying to support a disabled daughter. And yes, I still have to work at my age due to my circumstances and I earn a small salary. I needed to go to the doctor of which I paid cash leaving me with a mere R200 until pay day next week for food. Lo and behold FNB hit me all sorts of additional costs for this change over which resulted in me exceeding my credit limit. They then hit me with penalty fees and interest, taking the only available cash I had left. I have spoken to my private banker who claims she can’t do anything, and she will get the line manager of the bank representative that called me to contact me. No one has contacted me to date and now I am out of all my money. To date for this month alone I have exceeded a R1,200 in bank costs alone. Surely to heaven this is blatant day-light *******. For heaven’s sake I’m a pensioner with a little income and huge chunk of my salary is going towards bank costs. I am also a long-standing customer of FNB, 40 years plus. I find this appalling and *********. If FNB fail to rectify this situation I will be left with no alternative but to put a claim forward to the Bank Ombudsman. The bank representative never discussed any costs or when these costs would be incurred with me. This has left me feeling like I was just conned into a quick upgrade sale for FNB without all the necessary divulgence of costs or full explanation of the new product Fusion. I am most unhappy with this situation, and I will also be looking for a new bank that treats pensioner better, one that does not just dip into my bank account and take my last few pennies for their own benefit. Most appalling.
