FNB and Their Hidden Fees
FNB and their hidden fees! Every time you check your account, money is missing. Every single month-end there are “surprise” transactions being deducted, things I never signed up for and never agreed to. You will never have a stable balance with FNB.
Every swipe, every payment received, every payment made — you get punished with fees. If you withdraw cash at the ATM, you get punished with fees. Even the smallest transaction feels like a trap. For example, you cannot even withdraw R20 from your account, because FNB ATMs don’t allow it. It’s as if they are deliberately making it difficult for you to use your own money.
On top of that, they deduct you for service fees throughout the month and then, at month end, they deduct you again. You get double-deducted. If you open a business account with FNB, the fees will skyrocket. You will never have the same balance as the day before, because they are constantly chipping away at it — and then month end, they still take an extra chunk of service fees. So you pay throughout the month, and then at month end, you pay again.
When you contact FNB about this, they have no real answers for you. They simply repeat that it’s “bank account fees” you must pay. But when you point out that the monthly account fee has already been paid, and that every EFT or withdrawal already deducts a service fee throughout the month, they cannot explain why those same service fees are then taken again at month end. It’s double-deduction, and they brush it off as if it’s normal.
And if your account goes into minus, FNB will keep punishing you. They deny you an overdraft when you apply for it, but they will force your account into overdraft themselves with their deductions. Even if the account isn’t active, they will keep taking money, keep deducting until the account cannot be deducted anymore. Then, they’ll hand you over to lawyers and destroy your credit score.
This is not banking. This is exploitation. A bank should protect your money, not invent hidden charges and drain your account until there’s nothing left. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with FNB.
SMALL BUSINESSES, EVEN MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES, DO NOT BANK WITH FNB. DO NOT HAVE YOUR BUSINESS ACCOUNT WITH FNBS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO MIGRATE OVER TO CAPITEC, WHERE YOUR BALANCE WILL REMAIN THE SAME THROUGHOUT THE MONTH. THEY DON’T JUST MAGICALLY TAKE MONEY FROM YOU AND THEY KEEP YOUR ACCOUNT AT ZERO. LONG LIVE CAPITEC!
