FNB and all Other Banks Pass the buck
Being a FNB customer for a few years I have been dissapointed with the service since day one. I am being charged Fees on my account that cannot be justified. When I call and require I am told that these fees are normal. I purchased an item on the 26th. My account was not in arrears or in the minus because I wouldnt then have been able to purchase anything obviously. I swiped my card and the bank obviuosly took the money Immediately from my account. I was then supp**** the wrong part and requested a refund from this place and they did the refund using the card machine. Its been 4 days now and I still have not recieved my refund. FNB just says they cannot do anything as the place I bought the item from needs to sort it out. But strangely the money went off my account on the day of purchase and a few days later it shows the purchase only went through a few days after that. So now what happened is that according to the bank the transaction only went through days later and by the time the transaction went through my account did not have anymore funds available, so I am charged a fee for a transaction that was done before my account was empty and it went through. So I am charged a fee for something that was paid days ago. It is not my problem if a transaction goes off a few days later. I paid for the item and money was taken from my account and now days later I am charged for something that was already paid. This means that the new trend of banks are that they deliberately move transactions to later dates then charge you extra fees for these transactions and blame it on the retailers bank that did the transaction days later. So my account is in the minus. I bought a item for an amount, I m suppose to be refunded that amount but now I am charged for the refund and late transaction and now I am losing R200+. The bank has obviously got answers for everything. So even if its not the customers fault that the transaction was done late, we get charged for it. There are also other transactions that is going through on a later date than the actual purchase date and I am being charged extra for these purchases. So essentially the bank gets monthly account fees, added value services fees, deposit fees, late transaction fees, withdrawal from other ATM fees, fees from other things that is supposedly related to account management fees. Its just a money making ****. I am in the IT industry and it does not take 5-7 working days for a electronic transaction to go through even if there are batch transactions. The transaction should still reflect the correct purchase dates to prevent customers from being overcharged but hey, its South Africa. We get nailed and ****** everyday by banks and other places and they get away with this. In the old days where things were done manually it wouldve been processed the same day or 48 hours. Now you wait 5 days plus just to get some of your money back from a refund from poort service you recieved from a retailer. Unfortunately there is no other bank that is any better so I am stuck with paying all these fees that I cannot against because the bank has a Legal way of getting passed these ******* and unjustifiable fees. Well done FNB. I wont be a customer for long.
