FNB - An island on their own.

I have recently been informed that if you have been on debt counseling and have finished the rehabilitation you have to send all your clearance certificates to FNB and request they amend your profile, you also have to request FNB to review their credit rating on the system as they do not go according to ITC. I sent my clearance certificates and paid up letters to FNB debt review center on 14 May 2020 to request they clear my account.

But alas I still get declined by FNB for a overdraft due to default judgement against my name. I phone and they inform me I need to go to a branch and request for my credit score to be reviewed. This I did on 13 June, sent all the documentation to Bongani Mashele, he was very helpful. Bongani informs me that I have a cheque account that has monies outstanding. He reads this account, and guess what, this account was closed in 2017 as it was supposed to be part of the debt review process. According to the records this account was handed over to Ramsurjoo and Du Plessis. So I phoned them and guess what, They have no record of this account, of me any payments that were made any closures, NOTHING.

I phone FNB and after being sent to 3 different departments and speaking to 5 different consultants, who by the way could not even find the account on their system I landed up at a ms Ebrahem in Capetown. She looks at everything and informs me that no that account was closed off in July 2017 bank charges written off as the account was settled. I have no judgments on my name and I am no longer on debt review, she will send an email to her supervisor to review my credit rating with FNB. Great, and here I thought everything will be sorted. She informs me to give about 72 hours then I can apply for credit. I inform Bongani at the branch that this is what I was told. He request for proof. Where am I supposed to get proof? Proof of what? Proof that I completed debt review? Proof that I have no longer any Judgement against my name? Proof that even ITC cleared everything off? And guess what, I tried to apply for an overdraft again and it still says declined due to a Judgement against my name I should contact the credit buro. But everything is cleared!!!!!!!! I bought a car on financing in January 2020. FNB needs to up their client services! Maybe I should close my accounts and just move to a bank that would treat me like a valued client.
