FNB - A business example of How NOT to help your clients

On 21 October 2017, I put through an application for a credit card at the FNB Northgate branch. However, to date – 27 November 2017 – the application is still pending. There has been no official communication from the FNB Credit department to indicate whether the application has been declined or granted or why it would still be pending. Since then, I visited the Northgate branch twice, was told that the application is with Credit but still pending and that they could not do anything. Later, I raised the issue with the online bankers only to be asked to re-submit the same documents already submitted on 21 October 2017! A further follow-up resulted in the online banker giving out a generic email address to which I had previously directed the query to without any feedback. Having been an FNB accountholder since 2009, I never thought that I would ever receive such bad service. While I appreciate the need for due diligence and procedure on the part of the bank, surely it doesn’t take +1 month to do so (and for an existing client at that)? Or in the case of FNB I am perhaps mistaken? One just wonders, is there need to continue looking for new customers when existing ones cannot be serviced satisfactorily like this? Whatever the case may be, it has certainly left a very sour taste in my mouth. And perhaps something worth noting when making referrals for the corporate clients I work with in my own line of work.
