FNB allows ********** transaction on a old checque card

1. Transaction of R11303.86 Rand reserved for a purchase on a old card.

2. Contacted FNB to reverse the transaction

3. FNB says they cant do that, I have to complete a dispute form which will take around 21 days to resolve.

4. When asked how a transaction can go through on an old card, they said they dont know, after speaking to the ***** department they said the card is cancelled, but someone at FNB had only cancelled the card today.

5. FNB consultant says they have no idea why my old card was still active, it should have been cancelled ages ago, they made a mistake but cannot do anything about it.

6. When asked how can a transaction go through without a OTP, they said they dont know how that is possible.

7. When asked why they cannot reverse a pending reserved transaction, they said they dont know why they cant but I have to wait for a dispute.;

Now my staff wages are sitting in limbo and FNB are useless to assist, where clearly they have *****ed up firstly by allowing a old replaced card to still be used **********ly, without a OTP and then after reporting it straight away after the message, not to be able to freeze or reverse the transaction is unacceptable.

So FNB sent me a sms today saying , sorry for you, try and contact the merchant yourself and try and get your money back on your own pal.

Lesson to be learned, when you use your FNB card to do a transaction online, it is fantastic, you get re-directed to a page where you are requested to put in your sms OTP number, great stuff, this is so secure.

However once a merchant has your details, they can transact with those details at any time without a FNB OTP, any time they like.

So the FNB OTP is a once off, from then on, to bad so sad, you are no longered secured by FNB.

My advice, change banks as soon a possible.
