FNB advertising
I would like to share my experience with people about a loan I have with FNB.
I received an sms a few months ago stating that if you change your debit order to your pay date you will be entered into a competition where you could win montly prizes and a car.I also noticed the offer on my app which was no longer there the next day.
I asked numerous persons about this competition at FNB aswell as their personal loans department. No one knew about this competition. As a result I emailed the personal loans department and instead of getting a reply my debit order did not go off for the month.
When I queried this I was told that my debit order did not go off due to my request to move my debit order to my salary date in order to enter into the competition. This resulted in interest going off without payment, thus extending my debt to the bank. Now FNB capitilised on this interest and now has my debit order going off sooner.
The thing is now, I cannot find any details of this competition anywhere. I lodged a formal complaint giving their department 30 days to please direct me to their website where I can find details of this competition and where did they communicate the winners on their website and I received no response.
This is now going to the advertising regulatory board or the banking ombudsman as there seems to be no trace of such competition advertised to clients.
This is a very serious matter and the implications will be far reaching if communication was sent to clients to move their debit order dates to their salary dates to enter into a non existent competition.
Please provide proof of this competition.
