FNB adding additional costs
When covid hit South Africa last year and we went into lockdown, I had 2 loans with FNB. A temporary loan and another loan. I phoned FNB and made an arrangement to pay first the temporary loan and then the other loan. I paid more than the R50 agreed as I wanted to pay it off as soon as possible. I have a nail salon and all our services were suspended until lockdown level 2. This meant NO income to me. FNB agreed to stop all debit orders on the other loan until I could start paying it, however, interest would still be accrued. I started getting threatening emails and SMS's from TSL. I spoke to them and told them that FNB is not sticking to the arrangement eventhough I am. Everytime you try and take a debit order off my savings account, it accrued an overdraft. All my money that I allocated for the loan, went into bank fees. I had children to feed as well. I couldn't buy groceries. Then I found out that as that loan was not in arrears at the time of the arrangement, that FNB did not offer me the income protection which I paid for every month! *******! And FNB know how we struggled! This lead to a negative credit report. I'm sorry, but currently I'm unable to work as I've been in hospital since 16 April 2021. I will therefore not pay the overdraft anymore or the interest on it. I can't get ahead in any case. The loan I can't pay, as it has been removed from my FNB portfolio on the app. I think this is utterly unfair from FNB's side as there was only R3000 left on the loan.
