FNB

So yesterday I went to the petrol station to put fuel in my car. I swiped my card and the payment did not want to go through. The message declared "restricted card". So this guy behind the counter, tried to swipe there as well, told me the same happened to him, some or other Fica story (and it took 2 weeks to sort out) and I thought he is talking nonsense and low and behold, I was told that my card was blocked due to this Fica thing, I need to submit proof of my ID and residence. Luckily I drew money for my mother and had to use her money. What would I have done if this was not an option? Leave my car there and walk home or what.

Today I tried to trf funds to someone to draw money for me and I couldn't even do this. I called FNB Call Centre, very upset, as I cant even use my own money. I was just told that the Bank has the right to block my account. I have not received an sms or email to this effect.

Why would I just leave it so that my account be blocked and embarrass myself because my card does not work. Now I must go to the bank. Im sure they know how it looks like at the Bank and the long queues. So now I must expose myself to Covid to go and stand in a queue to sort this out. Why now? Why have I been using the same card for years to be blocked now? It's inhumane to say the least. I really did not need this in my life, to say the least.

I personally think this is totally unacceptable, not to have access to my own money, and thinking of taking my banking business elsewhere. Something like this has never happened to me before.
