Five FNB Departments and No Joy - How Can That Be

Why do I always have to complain before something happens. And now again 5 FNB departments: FNB Cresta, FNB Fiduciary, FNB Share Investing Sales, FNB Wealth & Investments with no solution; how can That be? Firstly my email request to FNB Fiduciary (Promise Ngobese), dated 31 August 2026, unanswered to date, why? Secondly, FNB printed bank statements for the estate Liquidation and Distribution account (approx. 40 pages) with no FNB header, nothing. This totally unacceptable for submission to the Master's office. Had to go in request stamps, go back in again and collect. Why - surely FNB know better? And now, thirdly: trying to open a FNB share Investor account for my incapacitated mother, sole heir to my late father estate, for the transfer of shares to her in specie. Back and forth with Tamela no solution, Go into FNB Cresta - they could not resolve. Then Tamela (administrator FNB wealth and investing) advises to again "Please send your request to our Sales Team at *** for further assistance." Last time they were of no practical assistance and now the email was not delivered, bounced back. So can someone at FNB please assist with our (executors in estate) latest request per below: Dear FNB Share Investing Sales

RE. INABILITY TO OPEN SHARE INVESTOR ACCOUNT FOR MRS PATRICIA DORAN

Following on my earlier email to Tamela (Administrator, FNB Wealth and Investments), dated 15 September 2026, and per Tamela's reply to address our enquiry to you, please see below:

When attempting to open a Share Investor account online, we initially received the following message:

“You have to be a South African Tax Resident to open this account.”

We subsequently went into the FNB online banking profile and updated the Tax Information under Settings → Your Details → Tax Information → Maintenance. As a consequence that message has now disappeared.

However, we are now receiving the following new message:

“We require you to update your Foreign Tax obligation declarations. Please contact your banker or visit your nearest branch.”

Could you please assist us in establishing:

What the actual outstanding obstacle is to opening the Share Investor account - is this something that you can resolve or assist with?

Specifically it would be helpful if you can please identify the "specific information", declaration or documentation that is currently preventing the account from being opened?

For background, my mother has lived permanently in South Africa since 1971, is a South African permanent resident, is registered with SARS and has a South African tax number. She does receive a small UK pension, which has been paid into her existing FNB account for many years. She is not currently in a position to deal with these matters herself.

The shares themselves are currently still registered in my late father's name and remain frozen in his FNB Share Investor account as estate assets.

If FNB is able to assist with opening the Share Investor account for my mother, we would appreciate your guidance on what is still required.

If, however, the account cannot be opened or the matter cannot be resolved, then I think the practical alternative will be for us to instruct FNB Share Investor to sell the shares and pay the proceeds into the Estate Late account, rather than allowing the estate administration to be delayed indefinitely.

I would therefore be grateful if you could let me know whether you can assist with resolving the Share Investor account issue, and, if so, what specifically is required from us.

Kind regards,

Peter Doran

Co-Executor for the late Stephen Doran
