First time homeowners, 12% interest rate???

<p>We are first time home buyers, who both bank with FNB. Personal loans, cars Credit cards everything.</p> <p>We app**** for a homeloan of R 645 000.00 of which we granted 100%, but at an interest rate of 11.95%</p> <p>We feel this is a very high interest rate.</p> <p>We thought that having our accounts with FNB and keeping our banking up to date as we could we would at least be considered for a better rate.</p> <p>How can we improve our lives, if our bank won't help us?</p> <p>Even though we qualify for a higher amount between the 2 of us, this is the answer we keep getting 12.2 was the starting which dropped to 11.95. How is this even comprehensible??</p> <p>Also there doesn't seem to be someone we can speak to about this.</p> <p>I have tried the call center, the agents have informed me there is no way to speak to the people who would be able to assist with a better rate. How are we suppose to express our grievances or state our case if we can't even get hold of the only people with the power to help us?</p> <p>We are good clients, who pay our accounts, I even settled my personal loan to the full last month.</p> <p>We were also informed that our qualifications don't meet criteria to get a better rate, where we were told that a 4 year degree of any nature would suffice.</p> <p>This feels belittling and we feel that given our record, we would at the least want the opportunity to state our case to someone with authority to look at the interest rate and make an adjustment.</p>
