FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF *******!!!!
I made an incorrect payment into a FNB account on 20/12/2023 which my bank ABSA indicated that the funds may still bounce back into my account because I have indicated that the owner of the account has not made use of that account since March 2023. But when I followed up with my bank 7 working days layer they advised that the funds were transfered successfully into the FNB account which meant that account is still active.
I called FNB to ask why the account is still active even after not been in use for over 9 months they advised of 2 possible reasons 1. The account still has money in it 2. The account was in an overdraft Which then I concluded that it's because there is money in the account as the owner of the account confirmed that when FNB closed the account he still had R1 500.00 in the account.
When I spoke to FNB they confirmed it is not possible to have my R5 000.00 refunded to me because the account is "blocked" awaiting FiCA documents from the account holder.
My BIG question to FNB is why do they only use the "BLOCKED STATUS" only when money has to go out of the account but they accept money in the same blocked account. This is day light roberry and they are *****ing!!!!! This is very ridiculous and I want my money. If an account is blocked it should have rejected the payment the same way they are not able to pay it out. Why must my funds sit in that account? The owner of the account is a foreign national and is outside SA and will never ever access that account ever again. Is this a way of *****ing money from people. If you can't pay money out then don't accept it in!!!!!!
