Faulty Cards and Poor Customer Service
I received a new FNB cheque card in September 2020 after my previous card was cancelled due to suspicious activity on my account.
I was charged R130 for the card which I was fine with.
However upon receiving and activating my card I found that I could not tap to pay with the card as it kept declining. I complained to FNB and received no feedback from them.
I decided to leave it as I could at least use the card normally by inserting it and could just transfer money into my credit card and use that to tap to pay if needed.
Now all of a sudden, my cheque card can’t even be used properly by inserting it in the machine. It keeps saying “chip malfunction” and I have to spend ages at the teller trying everything to swipe the damn thing.
FNB charges customers for poor quality cards that don’t work and won’t even assist you when you complain.
What will happen now? Will I be charged R130 for another card when the card FNB initially provided was damaged and they did nothing about it?
