Extremely Frustrated

As administrators of numerous deceased estates we deal with banking institutions on a daily basis and understand the formalities which need to be comp**** with and which cause unavoidable delays.

Our experience with FNB in this sector of business has become increasingly frustrating. We are currently delaying the distributions to heirs of an estate as a result of FNB's delay in closing accounts and providing us with the certificates of balance. We submitted all formal documentation in August and all correspondence thereafter has simply been passed from one department to another department. We have submitted the same formal documents on four occassions and prompted progress with numerous telephone calls. Driven by absolute frustration, we lodged a detailed complaint on the FNB website where we were assured that we would be contacted within 24 hours. Our complaint detailed the three FNB accounts in question. To date, a week after complaint, only one account has been addressed. It is impossible to phone any individual for advice or enquiry. We are dependant on emails which go unanswered or unattended five months after initial contact.

As a result of the delay in service delivery by FNB, we have been unable to finalise the deceased estate in question. As a result of this delay, the two foreign heirs have seen devaluation of their inheritance as a result of the weakening Rand. We have advised FNB of the situation in our lodged complaint and still we await any reaction or service delivery on two of the three accounts.

It is certainly not our desire to engage in this type of forum but, short of applying to the High Court for the appropriate order compelling service delivery, we have no further option.
