Extremely disappointed and angry with FNB – blocking my salary without proper notice

I am extremely frustrated and angry with FNB over the way my account and salary have been handled.

I get paid on the 15th of the month, and my employer has already paid my salary. I also received an SMS from FNB confirming that money had been deposited into my account. However, the funds are not reflecting and I cannot access my salary.

After contacting FNB, I was told that this is related to KYC/FICA documentation. What makes this situation even more unacceptable is that my account was already frozen by FNB in July for the exact same issue. I went to the FNB Cape Town Long Street branch and completed the required FICA/KYC updates.

Now, two months later, FNB has apparently blocked my account/funds again for the same issue. I was not properly notified beforehand that my account would be restricted or that my salary would be blocked. I am now being told to check with my employer, despite FNB itself confirming that the money was deposited.

This is my salary, not an unexplained third-party payment. FNB has effectively blocked access to my own money without giving me adequate warning or a clear explanation.

I have children and financial responsibilities. Because of this, I am now left stranded and unable to deal with basic commitments, including my children's transport fees and other household responsibilities.

How can a bank allow a customer to receive confirmation that their salary has been deposited, but then prevent the customer from accessing those funds? And how can the same FICA/KYC issue be raised again after I already went to a branch and updated the required documentation?

This is completely unacceptable and has caused unnecessary financial hardship and stress.

I want FNB to urgently:

1. Explain why my account has been restricted again after I already completed the required FICA/KYC process. 2. Explain why I was not properly notified before my salary was blocked. 3. Confirm where my salary currently is and why it is not reflecting in my available balance. 4. Release my salary immediately and restore full access to my funds. 5. Provide a proper explanation of what documentation, if anything, is still outstanding.

I have been an FNB customer, but this experience has seriously damaged my confidence in the bank. You cannot simply block a customer's salary and leave them stranded without proper communication or an immediate resolution.

I expect this matter to be treated as urgent.
