Extreme Security Measures Lock you out of your OWN Banking

I have recently had to change my cellphone number on my banking, which I did over the phone (It was quick & easy). When I phoned in to ask about changing my cellphone number for cellphone banking I was told to go into my nearest FNB. My problem is, that suddenly I cannot load data to current recepients or add my new number as a recepient without opening the FNB app. I cannot make payments to once-off recepients or load recepients onto my banking without opening your stupid app. HOW CAN I ACCESS THE APP WITHOUT DATA. I CAN'T LOAD DATA WITTHOUT THE APP. This is extremely FRUSTRATING. It used to work with a OTP, now you have to open the app for EVERYTHING. I AM FEDUP!
