Extreme delays in refund amounts

Comet Car Cape Town refunded an amount to my FNB cheque account on the 9th of Jan 2017 at 10h15am as a deposit refund and a customer copy slip was provided to proof that the refund was made.

FNB has still not processed the refund and the transaction is not even showing that it is pending despite the fact that the refund was also made from an FNB terminal.
I have called the bank this morning and they told me that a transaction takes 2-3 working days to clear. At the time of the call it has already been 2-3 working days and the operator stated that she does not see any pending credits on my account, she did not offer any further assistance.

This is unacceptable, how is this possible that FNB takes so long to process amounts?

Who is going to cover the interest on the outstanding amount during this period?

Is FNB misappropriating assets in order to gain from interest on outstanding accounts or why is it taking so long to process?
