Exposing Banking Information to Third Parties

On the 6th of September I received a notification of registration on internet banking, followed shortly by an online login notification. However, I had not opened an account with FNB and had not registered for online banking. Suspecting identity ***** I called in asking for my email to be unlinked from the account in question. It turns out another person had registered for online banking with my email address. FNB duly noted it gave me a reference number and said they will deal with it. I advised I was even willing to walk into a branch if need be to get this account unlinked.

One month later I have received a statement via email with this other persons banking transactions. Again I call into FNB to check up on this issue and it seems the reference number is unknown, I am sent from Business Banking to Online Banking who then want to send me back to Business banking.

If I was an ************ person I could now use this persons statement and name in identity *****. As it stands all I want is my email unlinked from his account which seems to be a very tall order for all I have come in contact with. As a suggestion confirming accounts before allowing registration would close this loop hole. As it stands whether deliberately or you make a small clerical mistake and some of your banking details will be exposed to third parties.

This issue has recurred. Surely a co-orporate as large as FNB validates email addresses before accepting their usage
