Exploiting the poor!!
I am so disgusted by FNB. I am supporting a pre-school in a rural village in Eastern Cape. To get the funds from me, they had to open a bank account. Please note - this is a TIN SHACK, with 30 orphans and vulnerable children - all of whom are poverty stricken...yet FNB decided to open the MOST expensive account for them - a GOLD BUSINESS ACCOUNT!!!! SHAME ON YOU FNB!! I put R500.00 in for food for them - FNB takes R200.00 of that for "fees". What a disgrace FNB. Your staff should be trained to advise their clients (esp those who are not used to opening accounts), for the best deal...not to blindly rip them off!! Yesterday i asked our teacher to go to the bank and demand that they refund those exorbitant fees - they immediately said the form was wrong and now they would only charge R80pm!!! And why was the creche told to register with SARS?????? This is a pre-school shack - NO-ONE EARNS A SALARY...there is no money for it. Why to open a bank account for a few hundred rand a month, must they be given this runaround and charged for it? Really?? Taking the food out of the mouths of orphans, to do what - pay for directors bonusses??? FNB i am closing my accounts with you - and will be asking every rural person/creche/pre-school to check that they are not also being ********** by this big nasty bank!! Really disgraceful FNB - you should be ashamed - and you should definitely REFUND every cent that your squeezed out of this poor little creche....and TRAIN your staff to give decent advice. How many more poor people are you lot ***********? Poor people, who come to you for advice, and this is how you treat them? It is nothing other than exploitation of the poorest of the poor! I believe that it would be in the best interest of many, many rural people who are being treated like this, for this incident to go viral. SHAME ON YOU, FIRST NATIONAL BANK. For anybody reading this review - please check and double check your statements - obviously you can't trust this institution to do what is best for you, the client!
