Excess Item Fee

FNB has made a fool out of me, my child spent the night without dinner because they went on and deducted an EXCESS ITEM FEE for a transaction i honoured.

I dont want to bank with them anymore as this is pure daylight *******. I demand a refund and how they will compensate for this *******.

After that refund , close that account as this is going to happen again. I dont want to hear the name FNB again , i will move my business account to NEDBANK.

I have recieved a call from the complaints team at First National Bank who confirmed that FNB alters transaction dates on statements. I went to Roots butchery on the 16th June 2023, checked my balance on the beforehand, went in bought items for a total of R286 which was less than my balance, swiped my card and recived "In Contact FNB message" reading "R286 reserved for purchase at roots on the 16/06/2023........" , Tshepiso and Tshepo Lekwane from FNB pointed out that i went to Roots on the 20th which was alarming and not factual.

I asked numerous FNB staff , what is an "Excess Item Fee"

Answer :
A fee that is charged by the bank (FNB) in an event that the bank (FNB) honours a transaction on your behalf when I (the customer) does not have enough funds for the transaction.

In this case my R286 was reserved for my purchase successfully on the day of purchase and I have the SMS to prove it.

For call recordings that i can freely give to the public please Whatsapp me on *** and lets hear what answers i got from the inadequately informed FNB staff. from the 2 consultants.
