Estate issues

I am deeply concerned about the handling of a deceased estate matter by FNB Estates.

For an extended period, there have been ongoing delays, poor communication, contradictory information, lack of transparency, and ineffective handling of escalations. Multiple escalations have been submitted over time, yet meaningful intervention and accountability remain lacking.

To date, the payout is still outstanding.

One of the most concerning issues was being informed that a policy could only be paid out after a year, which later raised serious concerns regarding the accuracy of the information provided.

Despite repeated requests, there is still no proper transparency or clear reflection regarding the administration of the estate. Legal representation was eventually involved due to the ongoing lack of progress and unresolved concerns, yet the matter still appears to be handled with little urgency.

A particularly concerning response from management was that “the employee has other clients” when delays and responsiveness were questioned. This response reflected a lack of urgency and empathy in a matter involving a grieving family.

The overall experience has felt dismissive and procedural rather than compassionate, accountable, and solution driven.

This matter raises serious concerns regarding: • Estate administration standards • Accountability and escalation handling • Communication with beneficiaries • Transparency and responsiveness • Treatment of grieving families

Estate matters should be handled with professionalism, urgency, sensitivity, and accountability, especially when families are already dealing with emotional loss and administrative burdens.
