Endless hassles regarding new account
I went 3 times in person to try to open a FNB account. Each time my proof of address was an issue as I live out on a plot. The consultant at The Grove branch assured me that a profile from my current bank with my current address was all I needed. I then decided to order my card online as I could not continue to take time off to go in person. My card was delivered, the courier accepted my bank profile and a few days later I received a message to say my account had been activated. I then received a message shortly afterwards to say my account would be frozen as my proof of address was incorrect. Then I got a message telling me to deposit money into the account they wanted to freeze. I lodged a complaint and requested the account be closed. They responded by suggesting another card be delivered at my proof of address as they can verify my address in this way, wish someone had mentioned this ages ago. The card can only be delivered during working hours so as yet I have not been able to take delivery of the new card and now no longer want anything to do with FNB. Today I receive a statement saying I owe R100 for an account I cannot use and for an account I asked to be closed.
