EDO collection attempt exploitation

Hello,

In February 2021, you charged me R1440 in fees; of which R154 was the monthly service fee. The remaining charges were for "EDO collection attempts".

I have two existing debit orders. I can see that FNB collected R110 several times referencing said debit orders. However, the debit orders are for R199 and R435, respectively. And at the time of the "collection attempt", money was available in my account to cover the specific debit order. And over the course of the month the money collected by FNB would more than cover all orders. Yet payees advise that they have not been paid.

For this current month (March), FNB has already collected R1099. As you can imagine, I am concerned about bleeding money. Especially considering that, months ago, I notified FNB of my retrenchment due to COVID 19.

At this point FNB is just recklessly and randomly attributing charges to my account and collecting money whenever they feel like it. FNB also stopped sending my monthly account statements, where I can track this behavior. Highly *********.

I have a Gold Cheque account; where the monthly fee is R150. I rarely use an ATM, let alone an ATM other than that of FNB. So I don't expect my service charges to be at the level they are currently, and have been for months now.

From my statements (which I've had to retrieve manually), FNB has collected fees excessively and is bleeding me dry.

Mar, R1,099; Feb, R1,440; Jan 2021, R1,034; Dec 2020, R704; Nov 2020, R737.50; Oct 2020, R550; Sep 2020, R692;

Total: R6,256.50

(In August 2020, FNB reversed the collection attempt fees.)

FNB, this is an abuse of the trust your clients attribute to you as a custodian of their assets. You are exploiting me.

I expect this to stop and for FNB to return my money to me.

Sincerely, Alfred

Reviewer Update
UPDATE: FNB defend their actions as good practice, and have not answered questions related to the ethics of said actions. FNB refuse to reverse the transactions and continue to collect fees, in excess of my debit orders. I have requested the account be closed.
