EDO COLLECTION ATTEMPT
I went to the Waterfront FNB branch yesterday to enquire about some collection attempts on my cheque account referenced as EDO COLLECTION ATTEMPT. There are three of these and bank charges for each of them rejecting. I do not have any debit orders on my account and have not authorised these collections. The solution that the consultant gave me is to put money into the account as bait and hope that they will try to collect again. I am told this is the only way to trace the source and to get these three failed collection charges reversed. This is poor client service. Wasted time at the bank only to be told that this is common problem and has happened to that consultant too and when it happens again I will have to go to the bank again. Nothing was noted down about this problem as she is clearly not going to investigate or escalate the matter. I've had this cheque account for less than four months and I already want to close it. This way of servicing is very rigid, according to your own rules you charge me for failed collections even though I've reported that I do not know who is collecting and now I have to wait for another collection and report back to you in order to get a stop order. Basically I must put in money into a leaking pocket and hopefully I'll see who takes it to trace "the source".
