eBucks - Hip Hip Hooray?

One of the Staff Writers of Businesstech website wrote an article titled "3 big changes FNB customers can expect in the next few months – including eBucks" on 1 June 2022. In the article it says that "The lender has also dropped the number of points customers need to qualify for each eBucks level as follows:" He/she then presents a table with the 'was' and 'new' point required for each level. However, instead of the 'new' points being lower than the 'was' points, the 'new' points are now HIGHER than the 'was' points. Not only are they higher - they are CONSIDERABLY higher. This makes it very difficult to move to higher levels. To add insult to injury, the carrot which is dangled in front of the Customers nose is the exponential rewards for filling up at Engen. For level 1,2,3,4,5 it is 10,25,75,200,400 cent/litre respectively. Due to the high number of points required most people are on level 1 or 2. Therefore spending around R4,000 on petrol gives you a cashback of R18 (level1) or R46 (level2). Frankly this is PATHETIC. With the increase in petrol price you get less litres for the same cost which means you get less ebucks. It is very sad to see how increasingly difficult FNB is making it for its Customers to earn ebucks. It used to be an exciting reward programme for its Customers. Now it has become a depressing programme.
