Dropping Business Like Hot Potatoes!
With refence to my complaint on March 2015, I wanted to go back there, but after page 6 I got tired of scrolling.
Dear Mandisa,
Thank you for calling me after 17:00. I have attached our WhatsApp chats as well for anyone interested to see exactly how “good” FNB customer service actually is.
I want to thank you for the time you spent on trying to arrange the overdraft for us, which Simphiwe told us in a simple “yes” can be done. If it was “subject to approval” I am sure I am not stupid enough to have approached it in this fashion and now have to sit in this situation FNB has placed me and all my staff in.
It saddens me that FNB is the only bank that doesn’t look at this as a group deal, but just on the singularity of this account, but as I said in my initial e-mail, when you have many customers, losing a few doesn’t matter.
Since FNB has now decided to make their final decision of not keeping their word, and putting us in an impossible position, we have our own decisions to make.

I trust this e-mail finds you well. I want you to take a few minutes and PLEASE read this e-mail.
Last night, I couldn’t sleep. Not because I am worried, but because I feel betrayed by FNB. I followed every step that our private banker said could be done, and believe me, I understand people make mistakes. The lack of accountability though is what I am struggling to understand. Never did we demand R 5million, we asked if an overdraft can be done on a bank guarantee, the answer was yes. Not “subject to approval”, not if anything, just yes. But here we are…FNB finally decided not to assist with the overdraft to facilitate the imports, with full payment on stock received in the warehouse.
I have tried to explain the massive ripple effect this will have on people`s lives to Mandisa. I wasn’t just speaking about the people we employed when we expanded and their families, nor my family or the list of businesses I represent who helped us to get to this point, but I was speaking to her about a much wider effect there would be if this deal falls flat. She sounded uninterested but I can`t see how a bank, who focusses on the poor can be so blind to the effects it will have on the immediate future.
VMK was founded on the principals of building a better South Africa, below I will give you examples, which you are welcome to verify with the entities, mostly your clients. If you wish, you or a representative can even join us and we can show you what we do with the money we make with blood, sweat and tears.
Mr. Celliers, we could have been wealthy a long time ago, but we decided to help. We are modest people, all the businesses in our partnerships are doing well, but none of us waste money on Clifton homes or Ferraris.
Some of the positive impact VMK has brought to individuals and communities below:
• The Mark Jeneker Foundation, a client of yours, well know by CNN, News24 and many more, is supported by us by paying monthly for containers at Portlands Primary. The pupils use this currently as classrooms while DOE is building new class rooms for them, the old class rooms were deemed a safety risk.
• National Pride, a NGO started by Dan Plato, the previous Cape Town mayor, also your client we contribute to monthly. Most likely their biggest contributor. They run the Walking Bus, a community driven project ensuring the safety of children going and coming from school on the Cape Flats
• We pay for the HPV tests done by Indalo Bio(also your client) at Crystal High for young teenage girls who can’t access these tests.
• Gifted Hands, we assist with demand generation for HIV on Cape Flats, also your client.
• Yasien Johaar, a Crime activist in Hanover Park. Through him we provide food and manpower once or twice a month to 1***, feeding them for the day.
• Cycle of a Woman- Kashiefa Mohammed, you can Google her and the name comes up, especially one News24, we are her biggest sponsor to assist moms who have lost children due to gang violence.
• We have paid for difficult child births to brain tumors being removed from 2 year olds, to heart surgery so a father can spend one more Christmas with his family this can be verified by Netcare and the families.
• We send nurses to collect blood samples and deliver to Epicentre, your client, who then works with Dr van Tonder to assist people in rural SA who are immobile.
• VMK sponsors food packs to schools in Limpopo and North West through donations to Blue Sky Vizion,also your client.
• VMK sponsored childrens homes, Jakaranda Kinderhuis(Through Humanitas) and Huis Charis, to not only feed the children, but uplift their living conditions.
We don’t rely on charity, we work hard to achieve our goals. My staff and I aren’t perfect, but we haven’t lost a single client because we are honest, have integrity and take accountability when we are wrong.
