Dragging Investigation
My aunt was ****med an amount of R85000 on the 14th of April 2022. Shortly after the ****, the matter was reported to the New Brighton Police station. She then contacted the FNB contact centre with a view to placing a hold on the available balance in the account for purposes of returning the funds. The reference: SECM ***-***.
On the 1st of September 2022, FNB then indicated that an amount of R6340.20 is available in the account for recovery. They then asked her to indemnify FNB and undertake to hold FNB harmless against any loss. She sent an email asking what prompted this decision, and there was no response. She physically went to the branch on the 15th of October 2022 to seek clarity, all she received was a complaint number sent via sms on Monday the 17th of October 2022, promising that they are looking into it, they never got back to her. Complaint Number: ***.
This is strange and frustrating, considering that the matter took 5 months after which, she was offered a measly R6340 without any clear explanation. Over and above that, FNB now wants to distance themselves in the form of an indemnity form. A 5 months investigation yielded this? If they did not want to assist they should have told her from the onset.
