Double student loan deduction
A double deduction of my student loan, which I have been paying since March 2013, unpleasantly surprised me this morning. After a 20 minute call-center music call I finally reached student loans who had no idea why the double deduction occurred and could not assist. I was referred to the collections department for some clarity. A second 20 minute call and 3 incorrect departments later, I finally reached collections. I was assisted by Nokuthula who, very calmly, informed me that FNB had a systems error in December which resulted in the non-collection of all the FNB student loans, hence the double deduction this morning. After questioning why I was not informed in December nor before this months double payment she politely apologised and stated that she hoped it would not happen again. I raised my credit record concern and she confidently stated that I needn't worry as my dad, who signed surety was affected and not me. This is unacceptable! Not only do I have a budget crisis this month but my dad is adversely affected for THEIR mistake which they admitted to. I will not accept any credit record effects due to this error & I would appreciate being informed when things like this occur.
