Dont SWIFT with FNB, or you will be swiftly disappointed in their 'how can we help' slogan.

FNB appears to have gone down the tubes just as the rest of the businesses in South Africa. I have been banking with FNB / RMB for over 30 years however their level of incompetence have reached a real African low. I did a swift transaction almost 2 weeks ago. I even contacted the FNB Premier service desk to ensure that the funds were sent. A gentlemen by the name of Simphiwe assisted me and assured me the funds have left the SA bank. It surely left my account thats for certain. After jumping through all the hoops the recipient went to their bank today (10th November), and the funds still dont reflect in their account or at their bank. Now I am trying to reverse the transaction of about R40k that I can use a more competent method of doing a SWIFT as FNB 'cannot assist' (forget their slogan - How can we help you), the reality is they cannot. I as a premier client who pays copious amounts of bank charges every month to FNB for over 30 years, cannot be helped. I dont have another R40k I can transfer now, and must wait days to even get feedback on when the funds will reflect in my account that I can make arrangements with a more professional company. Now I understand why people leave these banks with the high bank charges. They really cannot help you, so no bang for your buck. I guess this is why more and more people go to Mickey Mouse banks like Capitec, Their service is the same. They just dont charge you for nothing as FNB does.

Reviewer Update
If you thought my first review of FNB was bad. It just got worse.
So FNB responded with their usual (copy / paste) reply that they send out to all.
Same *******, same empty promises. The transfer was not done a week ago as Simphiwe (yes believe it or not, this person works in premier customer services - Think they got employment same way as our government..... same level of service. And by service I dont mean world class service, I mean typical third world country service. You will meet this type of low level service when you deal with them. No idea who places *********** people in 'customer service'...... the manager must be the same level of intellect and probably also got a job there that they could extend their incompetence to their customer service team.
The worst part about it is that they actually charge me for this. Yes with FNB you actually pay for this terrible service.
No no, its not a free service, its not a R100 transfer fee. Its thousands, and then you still have to beg them to do their job. Give money away, receive poor service, and then beg them to do what they supposed to have done 2 weeks ago.
I am a parent, imagine if your child was abroad for sports, and you could not join due to business (not FNB type business, real business that professional qualified people do), and they needed funds urgently abroad..... lets say a life or death situation. FNB WILL FAIL YOU TOO.
Well the transfer was done 2 weeks, and 4 hours late after their commitment, so you work out if you really want to pay for this third world country bank..... note you pay first world country rates.
Reviewing the balance of the queries on this site for FNB, it is clear that management in FNB has sunk to the same low as the rest of South Africa.
Be sure who you bank with, the bank of 20 or 30 years ago, may not be the same bank any more. They just have a similar logo. But their level of incompetence knows no bounds.
