Don't bother with FNB Connect
I ordered a SIM card from FNB Connect. I suppose it wasn't their fault that the first card got hijacked with the courier vehicle. When the second card was finally delivered, I followed the instructions on the enclosed pamphlet to activate the card. And nothing happened. The USSD code did not run. I phoned the "helpline" and was told to run the USSD code. I pointed out it did not work and yet was told to run it again. I told them I had tried repeatedly. And was told to try again.
I then tried contacting the secure messaging service on the FNB app only to be told it was beyond their expertise and that I should contact the helpline. I pointed out the helpline was staffed by *****s, but to no avail. Evidently the messaging service is too.
I phoned the "helpline" again only to be told this time the SIM card takes 24 hours to activate and would do so automatically, that no action on my part was needed. It is now 48 hours later...
FNB, you can send someone to collect your SIM card and you can dispose of the free voice, data and sms you offered wherever you dispose of the SIM card.
