Don't get retrenched if you have a FNB home loan
I lost my job through retrenchment in February 2015. With the money I got I continued to pay my bond. However in the last month or so it has become difficult to meet all financial commitments. I have had to deal with different people at FNB every time to try and find a way of how they could accommodate me. The First Lady I spoke to said they can't do anything for me if I've been retrenched, I must just pay my bond. However if I have some form of income they could re look at an arrangement. I get a small income from some part time work so I email FNB home loans with this info to see what arrangement we can make. The response is they can't make any arrangement I must just pay! I was confused! In this time I get contacted by another person that I guess o was handed over to who proposes that I pay my bond amount plus half of the amount owing in August! I was baffled ! I'm retrenched how must I pay that!! This is despite the fact that I did pay R4000 and my bond is only in arrears for R3500. MFC & Capitec both looked at ways to help me in the time but NOT FNB!!
