DOES NOT DESERVE LOYAL CUSTOMERS

After repeated non-sense blanket reasoning lacking integrity for product offers that were inferior to other banks including: unfavourable interest rates and excessives fees, my wife and I have started using other banks. We both have low-risk credit profiles with ITC and long-term bank track records with FNB. FNB continually promotes its VAS (value added service) products that are less important to us than cost of credit and facilities (banking) and communication (meaningful service). As a private client my banker is merely a pawn in the system and cannot effect any meaningful decisions. Our business account is also with FNB and I receive promotional emails offering credit etc. I am not interested because I barely tolerate the brand that represents a total lack in moral integrity. In-fact I always find better offers elsewhere each time I require real assistance incl. credit or lower interest. FNB, FYI other banks are also responsible to FICA :) and also see the same ITC profiles :).

It is a huge distraction and inconvenience to set-up our banking relationships that is the only reason we are still clients after 20 odd years. If any consumers wants to engage with a system governed by Exco members earning fat salaries making executive decisions based on average numbers churned out by robotic actuaries, join FNB. If you want an unfavorable interest rate that actually negates your personal profile and history and loyalty that is set to compensate for the overall bad-debt ratio of a particular FNB product, choose FNB. If you really want E-bucks, choose FNB!

An "error" on an export invoice caused FNB Forex to reject incoming funds on our behalf on technical grounds yet nobody bothered to communicate with us. It took me three follow ups after 9 days and plenty of waiting on the phone to realise the payment (15 days later and almost lost a new export client).

My wife was offered a best rate of 18% by FNB for vehicle finance and received offers of 12.5 and 13 % from other banks with no prior history. My personal overdraft interest rate is unacceptably high and so is the rate of my personal loan and I am able to achieve better at other banks with each complaint with different divisions under the FNB umbrella - Each division separate from another. FNB displays a total lack of regard for loyal custom and does not deserve our business. We believe we deserve preferential rates and treatment from all divisions and we will soon be making moves to change all our bank interests away from FNB as we do value loyalty and itegrity and are fed-up of being in a one-sided relationship to benefit an immoral system that costs us too much.

I sincerely caution all consumers considering FNB as an option that It does not really help you... Although the FNB logo depicts a pretty sunset, I hereby offer friendly advice to consumers that I believe the sun is setting and there is a danger lurking in the FNB tree - Could be a noose or a black mamba- not sure, but it's certainly not helpful- LOL I'm excited about the prospect of finally getting rid of my bank.

I see your response to my posting and would like to add that my private banker did phone me to tell me that my bad interest rate was personalised. This is an insult in the context of my loyalty as a customer and my credit profile. Also she said she was escallating the matter that will not help I am certain!
I sent this email to her:
Dear Ms. Macauley,
In-case you ever decide to call me again, kindly do not insult me by informing me that my bad interest rates are personalized (as you did) and proceed to tell me that you are escallating any issue with no positive result AGAIN.
You have never responded properly regarding the high interest rates and costs with no specific reasons, only previous vague reasoning including FICA and ITC and my profile as justification. You even recommended that I obtain an ITC report which I did only to discover a low-risk profile. My wife has a preferential "personalised" overdraft interest rate than I do and we both can do better at other banks after many years loyalty that makes no moral sense whatsoever. ie Are we all stupid being loyal to FNB?
When my business ran in to trouble more than 10 years ago, I chose to stay with FNB (all our accounts) and settle amicably when I could have liquidated the business, I consider this morally appropriate and instead of acknowledgement of morally correct and ethical behaviour, I have been a victim for 10 years to date.
Until you understand that I no longer appreciate that you are unable to help me with proper reasoning that makes sense, I am not interested because you are actually an obstacle to effective communication that frustrates me. You use words like system and escallation and everyone in the system passes the buck and there is a lack of co-operation between divisions. Your system may separate them, but I don't and I have valid issues with different divisions including; asset finance, forex, business and private banking .
When I hear "good day Mr. Buttle from a person in any FNB division it is stressful because I have been conditioned to hate everything the brand stands for. I think you (all FNB staff) are all "bots" programmed by "knobs" making up a dash-board for self-serving Exco members driving a vehicle fuelled by customers with no morality; purely corporate ethics and numbers as is blatantly obvious after many years of being a customer.... I am no longer an ambassador and do not appreciate all the advanced VAS products that disguise the core business.
I can only imagine what it feels like to be free of dealing with FNB and it is very appealing as FNB adds unnecessary stress to my life!
The latest emails in my inbox today are both bulk mailers entitled FNB INSPIRED ADVICE EDITION 4 one comes directly from my private bankers email as personal that is about to be blocked as SPAM as it is totally inapproprite for me.
I wish you could do something to stop the rot to society that is FNB, but I doubt it!

I have been contacted by my business banker and private banker since this review. Unfornately, nothing can be done about the bad service experienced with Forex and FNB is not prepared to reduce the overdraft and loan interest rates despite the fact that I am able to obtain lower costs at other banks. We are in the process of negotiating to move all our accounts away from FNB simply because it does not recognise that loyalty should entitle good customers to preferential deals. We have found better deals for Forex, Asset Finance, Home Loan, personal and private banking despite being loyal to FNB for many years. So it is obvious that FNB does not deserve loyal customers which is what this review is all about. I read that FNB customers are rated tolerant to pricing, and is No 2 Bank in SA ... well I expect the public will eventually realise as I did, that core banking is more important than flashy VAS products. I'm done with this distraction, good riddance!
