DO NOT TRAVEL ABROAD WITH FNB (VISA) CREDIT CARDS
WARNING !! DO NOT TRAVEL INTERNATIONALLY WITH FNB CREDIT CARDS!!!
I have never posted a message of this nature on social media.. But I have never had such DISGUSTING SERVICE FROM FNB !!!
6 DAYS AGO - I had my credit cards ****** (pick-pocketed) in Paris !
I called FNB - and they IMMEDIATELY blocked my cards! (Possibly because not doing so, would mean the ***** could keep making withdraws - which they would eventually need to refund - according to their T&C's)
Cards blocked! EASY! Great! (The ***** only got to withdraw €20 x3 - oh and all my cash that was in my wallet..)
But that was it..
ZERO HELP FROM FNB SINCE !
6 days later I'm STILL trying to order EMERGENCY REPLACEMENT CARDS!
Out of pure frustration I contacted a clerk (Bradley) at my local bank whose direct contact info i have from years of dealing with him. I thought, if anyone could help push the credit card guys to act / or at least reply to my request - it would be Bradley! No such luck..!
Bradley has been trying since last week to help me.. And it seems he is getting NOWHERE! How is it that he can't find out what is going on - and HE is EMPLOYED by them (FNB)!?!
I have emailed multiple departments BEGGING FOR AN URGENT RESPONSE - and NOTHING! Well nothing other than generic replies saying they don't deal with this type of request in their department.. SO FORWARD IT TO THE CORRECT DEPARTMENT!!! ***?!?!
After 2 days of zero progress from FNB - I tried ordering replacement cards from Visa directly. (Visa International PROMISE 2-3 day urgent delivery of replacement cards)
BUT ! (Here is the f*ck up..) Visa Int. need FNB in South Africa to say that it is "OK" to send me the cards !
SO, HOW LONG CAN THIS TAKE?!?
Q: Is he a client? A: YES !
Q: Are the cards reported ******? A: YES!
Q: Did he provide an address to send new cards to? A: YES!
THEN F**KING DO IT!!
I'M UTTERLY DISGUSTED BY FNB and their total lack of support in this EMERGENCY SITUATION!
Everything they say on their website about "Travel with FNB" , "24hr international help lines" - "speedy delivery of replacement cards"..
IT IS ALL COMPLETE LIES !
If ANYONE can help - PLEASE let me know!!
I have no access to cash. So i have no way to buy food or pay for accommodation, or move on to my next destination!
My 3 month trip already had a ridiculously tight schedule! This delay is seriously *****ing up my work itinerary! (I was supposed to be in Portugal 5 days ago!!)
I'm generally a pretty calm person - but the stress experienced in dealing with this bank, and their incredible incompetence in this situation, has been unbelievable!!
Surely I'm not the first person who has been ****** when traveling overseas..?
PS. I'm betting that IF FNB respond to this rant - it will NOT be with any good news such as "your cards are on their way" - but most likely another generic response about how i need to contact call center or another department - who will most likely not respond.. Not to be negative - but this is just my experience of how they operate at FNB - based 100% on what I've been going through over the last 6 days.. Other than good old Bradley, it seems the staff at FNB spend their time pushing their responsibilities on to others within the organization rather than doing any actual work themselves... And when I do get hold of someone they seem completely *********** - I was on hold for 20mins (charged at international call rates) only to be put through to the "internet banking helpline" in error..
