Do NOT Migrate to FNB Connect, Leaving is More Work than Joining Ever Will Be

In September of 2016, I opened an account with Firt National Bank (FNB). While finalising my application the consultant asked if I would like to join FNB's new cellphone network provider, FNB Connect. At R69 for a gigabyte of data it sounded like a *****. So I joined. Fast forward to December. I bought a new cellphone from Game and one of the requirements was after buying the cellphone you must buy a Vodacom SIM card. I wanted to keep my old number, which was on the FNB Connect network, so I went to Vodacom to port my number. Vodacom sent the request to FNB and it has been almost 2 weeks and nothing from FNB. When I called the number for FNB Connect their explanation is that because my SIM card was not a contract one I am free to move to any network I want. Vodacom is now unable to port my old number because FNB does not have systems in place for a prepaid number to port to another network so essentially my number is trapped with FNB Connect. When I went into FNB Newton Park Branch, Port Elizabeth and called FNB Connect from their line the woman who was assisting me kept telling me that I must tell Vodacom that my number is available to go to them but Vodacom needs confirmation that my number has been released from FNB Connect. The conversations I have had with the FNB Connect operators have been useless as they keep harping on the fact that my number is free to go to any network of my choosing. But without them telling Vodacom in writing that that is the case I am now stuck in limbo and have had to give in and buy a new SIM card from Vodacom. I feel my situation was handled horiffically and that there should be something in place at FNB Connect for prepaid users to port their numbers successfully. Bitterly disappointed in FNB and am seriously rethinking even banking with them in future.
