DISSATISFIED CLIENT

So I moved from being an ABSA Platinum client to FNB as a Platinum client in May 2009 (10 years next month). I was a happy FNB client for many years and a couple of years ago I saw that Platinum clients don't have their own personal banker any longer, so I decided to pay more banking fees for my Black cards, once again enjoying the services of a personal banker - well so I thought at the time.

2 years ago this changed and my R50 000 overdraft on my cheque account was suddenly being reduced by R1 000 pm without my own choice. For the past 20 months my overdraft has been reducing by R1 000 monthly and is currently on R30 000, which means that effectively I am paying this off with money after tax which I have not budgeted for. Do I still have an overdraft facility and when will this arrangement end? I was not consulted or informed of this, it was simply done without my consent.

Furthermore, and this is the worst part, is that at monthend when all my debit orders go off my cheque account, should I be slightly in the red with my cheque account, FNB would allow all my debit orders to be paid over to the various parties, then inform me that I am say R500 short and that I should settle this soonest - which I did every month. However, for the past few months now, FNB have changed their policy toward their Platinum/Black clients, and should I be R500 short, then I get penalised by the bank and they charge me R100 per dishonoured debit order, and then randomly one of my debit orders are returned unpaid. I do extra work privately after hours and clients pay me via cash or EFT, and sometimes the clients are a day or two late, and then I have to face having my car payment or short-term insurance or whatever random debit order/s rejected and I am in turn penalised by R100 / debit order.

Very nice FNB - this after being your loyal client for 10 years and referring my family and many friends to you, this is your way of treating a valued client??

Maybe its time to move my banking elsewhere where a bank treats a client with mutual respect. I also work with clients and I am very focused on client relationships and respect, but then I guess FNB is no longer the bank they were 10 years ago :-(
