Disgusting debt collection practices
In 2015, my husband entered into a payment arrangement of R500 a month to be collected via debit order with FNB's debt collectore Groenewald Lubbe Attorneys. Since that time, to date, he has honoured this payment arrangement. In 2017 when GLA failed to collect some of the payments via debit order, he paid via manual payment into the loan account. He then re-confirmed the arrangement with Linda. A copy of that email correspondence is attached. In August, he received a text message requesting an increase in his repayments. He sent an email asking what the minimum is that he could increase the payments by. No response was received.
GLA then began with a campaign of ************ and harassment sending text messages threatening to conduct ******* checks on his FNB bank account and deduct money without the required authorisation.
He has now received an email threatening summons. FNB, is this the type of service provider you use to collect debt. Harassing and threatening customers who have made honest attempts to settle their debts? You allow checks on customer's bank accounts without the required authorisation? I am actually embarrassed to be called a customer of your bank and am willing to move to another bank at this point if this is the type of practice that you condone.
