DISGUSTING, APPALLING SERVICE FROM FNB

I am totally disgusted with the service provided by FNB in 2 ********** cases I experienced. A year ago I was withdrawing money from an FNB ATM at Woodmead Shopping Centre, when a ********* came from behind and pressed the "maximum" button, then pressed "cancel" after I shouted at him for interfering with my transaction. He apologised and said that that machine was not working for withdrawals and that I should use another one. Only 15 to 20 minutes later, I received an sms from FNB informing me that I had withdrawn R5000.00. FNB dismissed the case without reimbur*****t and with a response advising me that I should have been more alert. I don't think FNB even bothered to check its camera footage.

A year later, during April 2020, I received a call from a male who informed me he was calling from FNB. He confirmed all my personal and bank account details which only FNB have on record and told me that he was converting my "old" eBucks into cash and that he was transferring it into my account. Due to the lockdown and more especially because he had provided me with all my information I had no reason to doubt him. He requested me to provide him with 4 OTPs, namely : authorising him to perform the transaction; confirming such authorisation and on performing the transfer of cash into my account. However, I became suspicious when he wanted the 4th OTP to confirm the deposit and I refused to provide him with it. I contacted FNB that evening when I noticed that 4 funds had gone off my account. However, on checking my account on a daily basis I found that those payments were pending payment for 8 days before the payments actually cleared from my account on the 8th day of reporting the incident All this while I was under the impression that the FNB were withholding the funds to be able to re-imburse me. How on earth the payment could have been made without my providing the ********* with the 4th OTP, I have no idea. Once again FNB refuted my claim.

On its letterhead FNB states under General Security Tips that the client is liable for any for any transactions conducted pursuant to use of an OTP or Pin, "whether authorised or not". FNB, does this mean that Your clients do not have any claim against the Bank? You really are treating your clients unfairly and I am totally disgusted with your service. You don't even deserve ONE star!

I confirm having eventually received a response from FNB advising me with it is unable to assist any further and that the decision is final - FNB will not re-imburse me, I will have to consult with the Ombudsman. Nothing unusual about FNB. They did not even bother to go through my records
