Disgusted by First National Bank who steel money from children - Pick on somebody your own size

Just when I thought First National Bank was different it turns out they are just like all the other assholes out there.

I have been trying to teach my children to save and in doing so, to keep their money in the bank. They have a savings account and then a normal account linked to their bank card in which I put their pocket money. Last week my son very proudly announced that he had saved enough pocket money to buy a camera and asked if I would take him to Cash Converters which I did.

He found the camera he liked and swiped his card but the transaction was declined so I used my card.

Turn out that he was a little short and for that, the bank deducted R 8.50 out of his account. ***!!! What a bunch of assholes. I guess he will learn a lesson from this and that being not the trust or use a bank unless you have no other choice. I will now encourage him to keep his money in my safe at home. FNB, you disgust me!!!!

You want customers to come to you I suggest you change your attitude and stop preying on the young and vulnerable. SHAME ON YOU!!!

And so the bad service from FNB continues.
A further 4 charges for declined transactions today and not once was a message received telling him why the transaction was declined. Yesterday Tanya from Willlowbridge calls me while I was in a meeting and as I didn't answer, sends me a message with reference ********** saying I should call her back.
Maybe I have got it wrong but in my world, when I **** my customer off, I try and make right by doing everything in my power to sort it out, clearly, in the monopoly of the banking world, things are slightly different as they don't seem too concerned.
I have now try to contact her this morning but after holding on for more than five minutes to speak to her I put the phone down.
Maybe my next step should be, go to the branch and close all 8 or my accounts.
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE FNB!!!

Thank you Tanja for sorting this out and for arranging for the refund.
That said I do still think it a low blow to charge children for unprocessed transactions be it is legal or not. There is no associated cost for the bank for the transaction so all this is, is a way for the bank to make revenue out of innocent and unsuspecting children.
