Disgraceful service from FNB Cape Gate
Since I’ve been an FNB customer for more than a decade I was looking forward to opening a savings/investment account for my baby boy on the day of his first birthday. But, service experience on this day showed me that FNB might not be the best place to initiate next level future savings for my child. On this 29th day of July 2019 my ticket number was 97 or could even have been 101, 94, or 104 as the customer numbering system clearly was not working correctly - so I’m not really sure what my ticket number should have been… While waiting along just a few customers at the branch, service agents frequently asked the customers, including myself, questions about their query and their current ticket number. Even though the customers haven’t been told anything, this continued for more than half an hour. It became clear to all waiting as one by one questions were asked about what could be the issue? Apart from overhearing a comment made by whom I believe could be the floor manager to one of the customers that the wait should not be a problem - if you’re not bored, so use the free Wi-Fi. In order to manage my expectation I pointed out to yet another service agent asking for my ticked number that they might not be communicating between one another about what information have already been asked. I started to realize I would not have an opportunity, when the “floor manager” pointed out with uncer*****y about when one of the service ladies stationed at service desk 3 could potentially return. I can recall this lady leaving after helping a couple, but surely my service ticked was already logged – so when a customer is waiting why wasn’t my query attended to next? I don’t believe excuses like “bad timing” or “short-staffed” would be acceptable since this being a business day afternoon on a Monday during a week customer usually receive their monthly pay and have requirements from banking services. Essentially my query was an opportunity for FNB to gain more long term business, but this has been proven to me to be utterly insignificant as I left not served and nobody else waiting was helped either.
