DISAPPOINTMENT WITH FIRST NATIONAL BANK
On 31 March 2022 and 1 April 2022, I was contacted by so called First National Bank ***** Department and was advised that a certain cell phone company wanted to place a debit order on to my current account and whether I knew thereof. I denied knowledge of this and was then advised to go to a standalone ATM of FNB and have to wait for further “instructions” so as to “catch out” the individual, who was allegedly attached to the branch where my account is “kept”. Once at the ATM I was misled to make E wallet transactions to various cell phone numbers and was assured the monies would be repaid to me eventually. I acted on this misleading “instruction” and monies left my account. When what I was promised did not happen, I then reported this **** to the ***** Department of FNB on the correct phone number. I informed them at the time of the phone number I was called from by the ********s and what happened. I was assured that I would be contacted by an investigator which did not happen. I received an Email advising me that as I had acted on the instructions to pay over monies to the E wallet and that the monies had been withdrawn by way of ATM method, no funds could be recovered and so nothing would be paid back to me. I was subsequently further informed that the insurance would also not cover this ********** **** and that the loss I suffered will not be compensated. I find this very disappointing in the least, as even a partial amount of what was lost may have been covered by the insurance and so paid out.
