Disappointing Service and Communication

I have been having issues with my banking app as the mobile device is not verified. I've been using the same device with no issues before. This means I can't approve transactions buy electricity etc. When logging onto online banking the same device is displayed twice once as verified and once as not verified without the option the do anything.

I tried contacting the bank via secure message and premier to establish whether this was a general problem and was informed to phone the app department only to be informed that they are experiencing higher than normal call volumes. I again tried contacting the bank to establish whether this is a general issue and once again got told to call the app department.

After a few attempts I finally get hold of a consultant in under 10 minutes that tells me the new version of the app un-verifies a device when you update the app, your phone software or uninstall and reinstall the app. I therefore have to make a payment of more than R300.00 via the app and then my device will be verified again. Is this right? I made a transaction for R500 and my device is still not verified. In fairness she did mention a period of 7 days but I’m not sure whether I need to wait 7 days before or after making the R300.00 payment.

I have already had to resort to purchasing electricity via another service as the system was continuously unavailable when trying to purchase via the app and I cannot purchase via internet banking as my device is now un-verified and I cannot approve anything, not even updating something like contact details.

Like you, I also have customers I need to keep happy and spending hours on the phone trying to sort out something that was working and now stopped does not help me in doing that.

What is meant to be a convenience has now become a nuisance and I am essentially cut off from doing the transactions I want to do via the electronic channels.

I’m at a loss as to what my next step should be as the assistance I’ve received thus far has not resolved my issue.

What made FNB great is slowly slipping away...
