Disappointed in a tone-deaf bank
I am disappointed that I have to make the same complaint yet again. I am displeased with the fees for an unpaid debit, which I rectified by depositing money into my account. The fee per unpaid debit order is R200. How does FNB justify this price? Debit orders happen automatically. I understand that they do not need human intervention - correct me if I am wrong - therefore no one's time is being wasted. It's automated. The banks encourage us to do self-service so that our fees can be lower. How then does a R200 fee for a missed debit make sense? And I just have to point out the hypocrisy of advertising terms such as "How can we help you" or "Help me make it" when in fact such exorbitant pricing is in contravention to the idea of help, and more in line with ******ion. I am not pleased. Again, I will say that it's like getting kicked when you are down. it's not the kind of relationship I want to have with an entity that is taking care of my funds, and I think it is despicable. I am willing to take it to the Financial Services Ombudsman to really see how fair this kind of pricing is on a bundled account, when other banks charge way less for an unpaid debit. Way way less even. This is not right.
