Disappointed

We have been clients of FNB for many years. We are over indebted - financial circumstances but here is the crux of the matter.

90% of our over debtedness is with FNB BUT they will not consoliate our loans into one account. THe credit was extended willingly enough BUT now that we have a financial crisis they will not consolidate THEIR loans into one account.....which would result in a lower instalment for us. We have app**** to be denied on affordability - HOW does that work - the instalment of the consolidation will be half that of what we are paying now....

This leads me to wonder - are they doing this because of the fees and interest being garnered monthly into their coffers is more than it would be with 1 account?

So here we stand to date: A reference number given on the 14/09 ( The reference for your complaint ********** )
Nothing has happened?? 3 weeks to sort out a query?
I also have something more to add -
First Rand BANK owns, FNB, Wesbank, Direct Axis & Clientele loans.
Our loans are with these companies, Hence the problem. They already OWN all the debt but will NOT consolidate it to accomodate their clients. I personally think it is due to the interest rates that are charged on each seperate loan, which adds up to more money in the coffers than a single consolidation loan would be.
AND HERE IS THE KICKER.
At FNB private banking we are over indebted - they ARE UNABLE TO CONSOLIDATE OUR LOANs; in fact they have started reducing our overdraft monthly.......
BUT both my husband and myself have been approached seperately, last week, by Direct Axis and Clientele Loans to up our indebtedness ( A special loan amount has been set aside due to us handling our loan accounts so well & because we are such good clients......... I have the SMS
Now I ask, where is the logic in this? Where does FNB have our interests at heart ? Surely this falls under indescriminate lending practices??
Do you know what is actually funny - I am talking about an amount of roughly R 150 k NOT MILLIONS......

October 27 was my last posting on my grievance and FNB's last response was on October 10.
This is beyond pathetic -
I am now going to lodge a formal complaint with the Ombudsman for Banking Service.
Thank you, Hello Peter for being a forum for us "little people" to be able to vent.

I retract my comment about Clientele loans. They do not seem to be part of the RMB or First Rand Group.

I reiterate my original comment about direct axis/ clientele loans/ First Rand Holdings - Direct axis & Clientele loans are one and the same therefore FNB has shares in the companies.
Thank you FNB for sorting out our problem - on recommendation of the Ombudsman.
