Delayed FNB to FNB Transaction

I have been an fnb business and personal account holder for the past 3-4 years. Everytime I receive fnb to fnb payments its been instant regardless of the amount. Yesterday (21 Dec 2016) Payment was made to my account around 7 am in the morning. The payment is still not reflecting up to now. (22 Dec 2016 6 am)

I called in to get clarity and the responses I have been getting are far from honest and consistent. I was told its policy that amounts more than R5000 will take up 48 hours to clear, the same consusltant said the delay is caused by technical glitches that they are fixing.

I called in again later in the day and spoke to a different consultant and the response was that fnb to fnb transactions take up to 24 hours if the clear now option was not used.

I was also told that if the sender calls in they will clear the payment. I communicated this to the sender and asked them to call in but nothing has happened till now.

The institution is not being transparent here.

At this stage I'm no longer just interested in the payment reflecting. I need satisfactory and comprehensive reasons as to why the amount has taken so long to reflect. Even if the answers go to the sender of the money and not myself I would be satisfied.

Lastly. FNB should let all their clients know that we no longer have instant FNB to FNB payments. This is critical information they are withholding from us. Think of debit orders that won't go through and fees you have to pay after that. I think its fair to let everyone know that there is no guaranteed instant FNB to FNB transfers unles if the clear now option is selected: which attracts fees I suppose and I think may be trying to monetise the instant payment service.

I find this to absolutely frustrating particularly because no clear reasons are given. I hope FNB will come out state this openly to all its clients that their clients must be prepared to pay for instant FNB to FNB payments if they want recipients to receive the payments on time.
