Delayed Credit Limit Increase

I was approved for a credit limit increase last week. I phoned to query the status of the change of limit about two days later and was told that I should wait until Monday, today, at which time the new limit would reflect. Well, the new limit is not reflecting after at least five days have passed since the approval. What is the cause of the delay?
