Deeply Disappointed With FNB : FNB Home Insurance – Poor Communication, No Urgency, and Unmatched Value

I am extremely disappointed with the level of service I have received from FNB : FNB short term Insurance , especially , FNB Home Insurance. For the amount I pay every month, the value of the service does not come close to matching the cost. Their communication is poor, service delivery is slow, and there seems to be absolutely no sense of urgency when customers need real support. After my home suffered storm and wind damage, I submitted a claim for a broken window. Despite the risk of further damage due to ongoing bad weather, it took FNB six weeks just to respond. By the time they attended to the claim, the weather was still unfavourable, and my property had been left exposed for far too long. This level of delay is unacceptable for an insurance provider that promises reliability and protection. Throughout the process, the service has felt inconsiderate and unresponsive. As a person of colour, I cannot help but feel that some of the proposals and responses I received were unreasonable or unfair, especially considering the premium I’m paying. This is my personal experience, but it left me feeling undervalued as a customer. What adds to the frustration is that FNB seems to work tirelessly to push customers into “Private Wealth” status, selling it as a premium experience. Yet even after achieving that status, the so-called private bankers offer little meaningful support. Instead of providing real solutions, they focus more on advertising additional products than on assisting with actual problems. It feels like the title is prioritised over the service that should come with it. Between the high interest rates, excessive charges, and the slow, ineffective service, FNB has failed to deliver on the basic promises of an insurance provider or a premium banking service. Customers deserve reliability, communication, urgency, and genuine support — none of which I experienced. At this point, I am frustrated, disappointed, and questioning the value of continuing with FNB. They need to do far better for the customers who trust them with their homes, finances, and hard-earned money.
