Deception by FNB Islamic

I was given approval for Finance with FNB Islamic with a validity period of 7 days.

After accepting the offer in the period i then got given a new higher rate because interest rates have changed and due to me taking a vehicle that is slightly cheaper causing it to be reassessed.

Seriously? I am reducing your risk and none of this was mentioned in the podium.

Shame on you FNB Islamic.

I would like to lodge a formal complaint about Mumtaz who caused me a lot of distress in my vehicle finance applications. While applying for vehicle finance Mumtaz treated me as if she is the sole credit committee member on two occasions:
  1. When I requested a lower rate she immediately refused and then only acquiesed when I challenged her based on an argument involving economics. She only then went back and then got me a lower rate. Why the initial resistance and why must I beg?
  2. This next ocassion is much more serious. I had accepted the vehicle finance offer within the 7 day period and Mumtaz confirmed this by email. When I sent an amended OTP she ended up doing two further things that were incorrect:
    1. Changed the rate on her own accord, blaming interest rates increasing. What is the point of the 7day acceptance period then?
    2. Imp**** that because the price of my vehicle had dropped that I must now pay a higher profit rate.Nowhere in the podium does it say that you are bound to take the exact car that you app**** for and that the dealership is hereby banned from getting you a better deal. This was a deal for a brand new car so there was no risk involved unlike a used vehicle.
These type of incorrect statements had caused me great inconvenience as I had already made arrangements to purchase the vehicle and it contradicted the podium that was sent to me. If I did not escalate to the CEO and to Ebrahim Jacobs (who was fantasticly quick at helping me) then I would have lost out financially due to Mumtaz’s inability to understand how contracts work while also being given the authority to make decisions on her own as if the Islamic division is her own Fiefdom.
