DEBT SETTLEMENT NIGHTMARE

I have been a FNB customer since my childhood (back then, they were still called Barclays Bank). I always used to receive good service from FNB. Their internet banking service was one of the best. Then, I eventually got into some financial trouble. I had to go into debt review. FNB was the first, and only, one of my creditors to offer me an early settlement discount. However, when I tried to make use of this offer, I simply never received any response (via my debt counseling service). During the two years I was under debt review, I repaid more than R25,000.00 of the ±R52,000.00 balance at the start of the process. Then, suddenly, my outstanding balance jumped back to R50,000.00. FNB could never provide a reason for this. I have now repaid all my outstanding debt that was under review, and yet FNB still insists that I owe them R50,000.00 while the amount should be less than R30,000. Trying to contact anybody who actually knows what is going on, has proved to be a futile exercise. I no longer live in South Africa, so It's difficult to phone FNB. Trying to resolve this issue via e-mail has not had any success. I really don't know what to do. I would really like to settle my outstanding balance, but I refuse to get ********** by FNB. I have been a FNB/Barclays Bank customer for ±40 years. They have made LOTS of money out of me from interest, but they still want to rip me off.
