Debt Protection Policy not paying out as self employed!!!!

An FNB consultant sold me a Debt Protection Policy for my business, I paid this religiously every month, now I try and claim as I am not able to open my business and they tell me I cannot claim as I am self employed. I draw a salary each month (Except now during lockdown) and so I am confused... Why sell me a policy that I cannot claim from. I am the only Director of the company so if I cannot claim.. Who can claim on the policy that I have been paying for?
